Family plan for a water outage
Plan drinking water, hygiene and sanitation as separate needs.

Loss of supply and unsafe water are different situations. Check your supplier and local authorities for the affected area, expected restoration and safe-water instructions. A generic calculator cannot verify whether a particular tap or container is safe.
Separate essential and additional use
The calculator uses a disclosed CDC storage baseline. Review additional water for food preparation, personal care, equipment and animals. Enter your usable inventory only after checking containers and dates. An adult drinking target is not an instruction for feeding a baby.
Arrange sanitation and support
Keep hand hygiene supplies and discuss toilet and waste disruption. Follow local disposal guidance. Arrange help before disruption if someone depends on water for essential care; do not improvise equipment or medication arrangements.
